Majority of the Countries Infected by Malware during Q1-2011

There has been a very little change in terms of the ranking of majority of the infected nations during Q1-2011. The only point, which is worth stating is the fact that, nations in the middle order of the list shows infection levels of 50% or above, as reported by PANDASECURITY on April 5, 2011.

However, the US has disappeared from the list of Top 20 countries most affected by malware infections during Q1-2011, whereas nations, such as France and Spain have again entered the list. This same can be stated about Ireland as well, a nation missing from the earlier lists and is now occupying one of the last ranks.

China, Thailand, and Taiwan remained at the first three ranks, with infection ratios of around 70%. Japan and Latvia are at par with a bit below than 60%, whereas Russia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia are all only over 50%.

Peru and Ecuador were last on the list with infection levels ranging around 30% - 40%, which however points towards an improvisation in comparison to the past rankings.

Trojans are the kind of malware causing majority of the PCs infections in few particular countries, followed by conventional worms and viruses. That point to Trojan as a tool favored by cybercrooks who utilize them to steal bank account information and other private information straightforwardly from their victims.

As per the latest report, China tops the list of malware attacks. Nearly, 75,81 Trojan attacks have been registered in the country. Argentina accounted for 64,53 attacks. The number was 64,53 in Brazil, Spain accounted for 58,61 attacks, Mexico had 63,56 attacks and in Poland the number was 50,01. Trojan attacks have been recorded by the Panda Security.

Next to Trojan, majority of the infection was caused due to Virus. As per the data released by the security vendor, Argentina had (10,08) virus infections, China (6,49), Brazil (9,68), Spain (13,92), Mexico (12,24), and Poland (22,57).

Remaining malware like worm has been registered (8,16) in Argentina, (3,82) in China, (8,92) in Brazil, (9,39) in Spain, (8,78) in Mexico, and (10,32) in Poland.

Further, the report stated that, during the initial three month of 2011, there was a daily average of 73,190 fresh samples of malware, of which the majority was of Trojans.

However, as usual Panda Labs suggest all users to make sure that their PCs or systems are sufficiently protected.
