Some Users Might Well Favor Adware, Says MicrosoftNew statistics from Microsoft indicate that a lot of users are not against installing adware programs, despite security software flagging them as suspicious. Adware is a software application that displays banner ads. The developers of these programs incorporate an additional script that serves up the ads viewed through a bar or pop-up windows on the computer screen. Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT), which detected 129.5 Million PUPs (potentially unwanted programs), said that users removed only 71.7 Million of them.
