China's Xinhua.net Downloads Adware on User PCsMcAfee, a leading computer security company, has asserted that Xinhua.net, Website of China's state news agency, includes some malevolent downloads that McAfee recognizes as spyware, adware, or other likely undesirable applications. The McAfee SiteAdvisor tool that generally alerts people about sites posing a potential security threats or infect peoples' PC with malicious software has assigned Xinhua the "red" category, putting it at the highest alert level since it tries to deploy a minimum of four applications that McAfee regards suspicious. McAfee also alleges that Xinhua deploys an executable file called FlashGet (003.exe) that subsequently loads down peoples' PCs with three additional applications.
