Second Man Pleads Guilty in Hacking Scandal of Celebrities Known as “The Fappening”

A hacker, who organized a phishing scheme which enabled his illegal entrance to over 300 email accounts that includes dozens of celebrities of Hollywood entertainment industry, has pleaded guilty.

According to Attorney Office of U.S., 28 year old Edward Majerczyk of Orland Park, has agreed to the deal and thus plead guilty for violating Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, particularly, one count of illegal access in a protected PC to collect information. Charges are filed on last Friday.

The operation led to a huge leak of hundreds of humiliating private nude photos of almost exclusive famous women which is known as The Fappening or Celebgate. Actresses Kate Upton, Jennifer Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Kirsten Dunst, singer Rihanna, as well as Hope Solo, the soccer star, were all trapped in its net.

She said: "It's my body and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that we even live in that kind of world". Ibtimes.com posted on July 6th, 2016, stating that Majerczyk has not been charged for the leak of nude photos.

The investigation exposed Majercyzk having link to this hacking incident. Moreover, another hacker called Ryan Collins was also pleaded guilty for hacking profiles of other celebrities and leaking private videos and images.

Colins was also linked to the The Fappening and Celebgate episode with no proof like Majercyzk. Collins apparently has a pact of serving 18 months in place of 5 years.

Both the hackers are connected with The Fappening video and photo leaks; however more people might be involved in it. On the other hand, authorities don't believe that Majercyzk and Collins worked together for leaking the photos to public.

The charge against Majerczyk originates from the probe for leaking photographs of many female celebrities in September 2014 commonly referred to as "The Fappening" on Reddit and other social media sites. However, investigators have not revealed any proof linking Mazerczyk to the actual leaks. Several victims of Majerczyk were members of the entertainment industry in Los Angeles.
