The Anti-Virus Grade Introduced By Microsoft One Care

According to the news published by Vnunet on June 4, 2007, the security test of Virus Bulletin VB100 has been successfully cleared by Microsoft's Windows Live One Care Security Service.

This test includes a sample, which is all about detecting 100% harmful codes in malware frequently used by hackers.

Although, after clearing in June 2006, One Care could not pass the test in February 2007, in which it was only able to catch 99.91% of deadly codes.

A representative of Microsoft said to ZD Net UK in February 2007, that since the failure in test, Windows Live One Care is improving and working on their technology to clear more tests, and most specifically, he also assures the enhancement of Windows Live One Care.

In March 2007, an anti-virus Austrian Company AV Comparatives conducted test and noticed that Live One Care was only able to catch 82.4% deadly codes of the total 500,000 samples. According to the news by ITpro in June 4, 2007, this test signifies that the company did not approve the product.

In February 2007, a UK based publication Vista Bulletin which also conducts the VB100 test and whose certificate is known as a leading voice in anti-virus industry also thinks that Live One Care has some defects in it. Moreover, it also failed to pass the test series permitting VB100 badge's display.

Dismissal of the VB100 brand and failure in many tests conducted by AV Comparatives compelled Microsoft authorities to make an announcement that they would revise their techniques and bring the standard of the security provider to a higher level.

Passing grades received by Live One Care from ICSA labs and West Coast labs are also greatly acknowledged by Microsoft. The test by AV Comparatives will be conducted in August 2007.

According to news published by Vnunet on June 4, 2007, Gina Narkunas, leading product manager of One Care, claimed in a posting to a company blog, that the appreciations motivate One Care's anti-virus devices and also points to the fact that One Care has all the facilities which can protect the users from all known harmful codes.
