Viral Scam Bothers Facebook Users by Exploiting the Site’s Photoshop App

M86 the security company reports that Facebook is hit with one fresh scam that's disseminating virus while exploiting the Photoshop software of the social-networking website.

States the company that just like during previous assaults on Facebook, the current viral campaign too, pretending to be from a pal, tells the site member turned victim that the former has discovered one movie file that he's sending. The file typically is accompanied with a message "Oh, wow, is this you" during when, the virus disseminates via Facebook chat, immediately dispatching the message to each and every friend of the affected member, irrespective of whether or not those friends are engaged in a chat.

Moreover, anybody receiving the message is told that the said pal has created one Photoshop picture showing them both as also there's a web-link, which actually asks that recipient to download software named 'Millum.' But the software is associated with a phishing campaign as it asks the user for facilitating access to his Facebook pages; while it already facilitates admission into Facebook Chat. And soon as the software is downloaded, the user finds many individuals in a group whose heads show standing on animal figures, while he himself is nowhere in sight.

States M86 that the virus does not seem to disseminate spyware or malware although the viral infection, at a 90,000 clicks/hour rate, is proliferating fast.

Sadly, according to security specialists, scams like the above kinds are now a commonplace on Facebook. Indeed, this wild proliferation of scams on the website is because of its over 600m users and their databases.

Meanwhile, for eliminating the malicious software in the latest scam, M86 suggests affected users to first go to the 'Apps You Use' folder and locate the software after which they should hit on 'Edit Settings.' Furthermore, the security company also encourages both affected and not-affected Facebook members to inform their contacts on the website about the scam. And eventually, for beating these kinds of scams M86 recommends end-users for being watchful while surfing on the Web as well as download software merely when they've complete knowledge of its benefits.
